Congratulations to Our August 2026 Brox Safety Champion: VL Coffin!

We are pleased to recognize VL Coffin, Loader Operator at our Keene Asphalt Plant, as the August 2026 recipient of the Brox Monthly Safety Champion Award! 

This season, the Brox Safety Department placed a strong emphasis on conveyor safety across our operations. When a conveyor at our Keene Asphalt Plant experienced a malfunction with its safety pull cord, VL recognized an opportunity to address the issue rather than wait for the scheduled subcontractor repair. 

Understanding the importance of keeping the conveyor’s safety system functioning properly, VL took the initiative to ask permission to troubleshoot the problem himself. With approval, he safely diagnosed and repaired the issue, restoring the conveyor’s safety system to full functionality. 

VL’s actions demonstrate the kind of awareness, initiative, and commitment to workplace safety that our Safety Champion program was created to recognize. By speaking up and taking action, he helped address a safety concern and contributed to a safer working environment for everyone at the Keene Asphalt Plant. 

As Brox COO Doug Perry shared, “These awards celebrate the people who lead by example, identify opportunities for improvement, encourage safe behaviors, and inspire those around them to do the right thing.” 

We are proud to recognize VL for his willingness to step forward, his dedication to his coworkers, and his commitment to making safety a priority.
